Hi, everyone! I don’t know about you, but I find true success stories very inspirational! One such mega-achievement story is definitely about designer Marc Ecko.  Not only has Marc built a substantial empire based on contemporary style with mass appeal, but he’s also approachable and willing to share insight on what it takes to make it in these challenging financial times.

Recently, artist and designer Marc Ecko made a very special celebrity appearance at ClearVision Optical’s booth at Vision Expo East, an annual expo held at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Center. Hundreds of fans and expo attendees lined up in the booth to see Marc and receive a copy of his exclusive interview with “20/20 Magazine” & received a set of limited edition cleaning cloths. This latest interview in “20/20 Magazine” includes behind-the-scenes coverage of a candid, interview in which Marc discusses his new consumer website: marceckoeyewear.com. Marc also signed autographs and posed for photos with those who attended the event. The designer extraordinaire was in-booth to promote the newest optical and sun styles for his “Cut & Sew” Eyewear collection, as well as his new consumer website, marceckoeyewear.com.

One of my favorite areas of this innovative, cutting-edge new Ecko website is the virtual try-on portion! That’s right — consumers can see how sharp they look in various Ecko frames and also get a feel for what looks best on their particular face shape. I truly like the new optical and sun lines because the styles are amazing, sleek and flattering! The men out there can actually afford them, too! Even the names of the various eyewear styles shout affordable sophistication; “Entreprenuer,” “Lip Reader,” and ”The Alex” ( just a few styles which are as hip as the collection, itself). Not sure what to wear with your new frames? Marc has that covered too with a stylizer section of the site (how cool).

About the Cut & Sew Collection by Marc Ecko: With a turn of the century design aesthetic and meticulous attention to detail, each frame in the collection has custom temple tips inspired by the curvature of a tailor’s shears handle. These unique and subtle details creatively pay tribute to the true craftsman who is passionate until the end.

“Professors explained to me that focus is great. Being the biggest and having your foot in a bunch of things is not necessarily the best thing. So I came back and focused the message of my company. Harvard said to wait two weeks before you tell your staff, but I couldn’t wait. I said, ‘If it’s not about expanding the definition of beauty and making women feel physically and emotionally better about themselves, then we’re not doing it.’ My business before was based on me. But my marketing professor has taught me that it’s about customer centricity and not about me centricity. It’s about her. How do I affect that girl?”

Susan Sarandon sizzles in Lanvin Paris.

When I heard one of my favorite actresses of all time Susan Sarandon along with her daughter were posing in exquisite images for luxury retailer Neiman Marcus, I just had to share the news with the DailyFashionista.com readers!

Neiman Marcus announces Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino as the artists featured in The Art of Fashion campaign for Spring 2012. The campaign includes 14 portraits of mother and daughter and will appear in the March edition of the newly refreshed Neiman Marcus publication, the book. Debuting nearly 20 years ago, The Art of Fashion was a revolutionary step for a retailer as the campaign was designed to feature cutting-edge fashion and provocative photography.

In keeping with that legacy, this year’s Art of Fashion was shot by photographer Mark Abrahams. The portraits artfully capture mother and daughter in a way that appeals to and connects with women of all ages. Designer merchandise featured in the campaign includes: Burberry Prorsum, Carolina Herrera, Chanel, Donna Karan NYC, Etro, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, J. Mendel, Lanvin Paris, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Tom Ford, Valentino and Vera Wang. The Art of Fashion campaign will appear in the first version of the refreshed Neiman Marcus’ the book. Building upon the book’s signature fashion and beauty features, new lifestyle-oriented editorial content will be supplemented into the oversize magazine.

“The March issue of the book not only features the celebrity power and beauty of Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino in a rich pictorial campaign, but it also debuts new editorial departments. We are delighted to share this inspired edition of ‘the book’ with our customers and look forward to bringing equally strong content in the coming editions,” said Eddie Nunns, Vice President, Neiman Marcus Brand Creative.

New departments within the book include:

Intersection – where style meets lifestyle with news on people, places, culture and cuisine
Full Disclosure– a Proustian questionnaire in which celebrated cultural icons offer a brief self-portrait in words and drawing.  March: Tim Gunn.
Two Places at Once– A side-by-side comparison of two cities Neiman Marcus calls home
Heritage– An inside look at Neiman Marcus history over time. March: Neiman Marcus in film, television and music

Photo: taken during Dana Prigge’s interview with Janice Dickison.

Hi, everyone! As some of you may know, I write fashion-related articles for the popular Joonbug website. If it’s ultra-cool and happening Joonbug is there to get the sizzling scoop. Fashion, Food, Culture, Nightlife and everything hip from New York to Miami and the hottest cities across the country – can be found on the site.

Recently, I was elated when I found out I was slated to interview Janice Dickinson! I’ve interviewed models such as Molly Sims and designers such as Catherine Malandrino. This was also a special experience because Janice Dickinson is a fashion icon. Known as the first “super-model” my discussion with her was nothing less than…superb.  She spoke with enthusiam, a quick wit and also offered some VERY interesting advice regarding making your dreams become a reality. Isn’t that what life and the new year is all about?!

*Click this link to read my interesting, exciting and candid interview with THE Janice Dickinson (super-model extraordiniare).

Janice also discussed some of her latest collaborations on TV, the internet, swimwear and perfume!
