Hi, everyone! Nothing soothes the savage fashionista more than some soulful tunes. Music is also a well-known stress reliever! When I heard the inside buzz surrounding Gospel and Soul singer Isaiah Grigg, I just had to hear more! I recently had the opportunity to chat with this hot music-industry commodity to learn about his latest album and other exciting projects & events he’s taking part in this summer! I’m also looking forward to attending his Benefit Concert on May 24th — rock it– appropriately entitled “Ready to Win.”

DP:  Tell me how and when you got involved with music.

IG:  I was born into music. Everyone in my family, near and far either sings, plays an instrument, or both. My mother especially was always the model singer I wanted to be like. Music is something I’ve just always been around; it’s a part of me. Church really gave me the opportunity to experiment musically and express my craft. My first ever music job came via the Gospel Choir at my High school. Great experience!

DP: What is the music style you perform and what influences you?

IG: Stylistically my music is definitely contemporary gospel music. It can be defined as Inspirational as well. God is the creator of my gift and talent so he’s definitely my greatest influence. Everything I write derives from my belief in his word. What influences me… a lot. I take inspiration from life experiences. Things I’ve seen and been through, also observing life around me. My music is about people. It’s meant to reach everyone. I love knowing that my music has helped someone. Doesn’t matter how. I just want to inspire those who listen. I feel privileged to do so.

DP: Where can we find your music?

IG: Well, I’m blessed to say that my Freshman album Ready To Win will be available on iTunes and all other digital download sites as of 5/22/12. The album is also available for per-order on my website at www.isaiahgriggmusic.com.

DP: When is your upcoming benefit concert?

IG: The “Ready To Win” Benefit Concert is May 24, 2012. Doors open at 7pm and concert starts at 8pm. I have 4 great artists who are also performing to help raise money for my MusicBreeds Foundation (MBF). We plan on dedicating 50% of that nights proceeds to aid in the Annual MBF Scholarship to be awarded to a college bound male/female senior who exhibits solid musical ability and aspire to really make a difference via their craft. We want to inspire our youth and help them along to their dreams!

DP: Wow — that sounds very inspirational! Now, describe your sense of fashion style – because you’re quite the dapper man.

IG: My fashion style I’d have to say is a mixture of the business professional and the retro-look. I love my suits but I also love my vintage tees and a nice pair of classic Chuck Taylor’s! You can never go wrong with Chucks. I feel my personality should show through your music and your presentation.

DP: What is your best advice for other performers looking to make it out there in the music industry or creative industries.

IG: My advice would be to put God first, stay prayerful, and just go hard. Use your trials as fuel. Understand your purpose and live in it. Never let a situation or present time in life good or bad steer you away from your goals. Sacrifice hurts sometimes but nothing great is easy. Stay the course and go after it!

“Professors explained to me that focus is great. Being the biggest and having your foot in a bunch of things is not necessarily the best thing. So I came back and focused the message of my company. Harvard said to wait two weeks before you tell your staff, but I couldn’t wait. I said, ‘If it’s not about expanding the definition of beauty and making women feel physically and emotionally better about themselves, then we’re not doing it.’ My business before was based on me. But my marketing professor has taught me that it’s about customer centricity and not about me centricity. It’s about her. How do I affect that girl?”

Susan Sarandon sizzles in Lanvin Paris.

When I heard one of my favorite actresses of all time Susan Sarandon along with her daughter were posing in exquisite images for luxury retailer Neiman Marcus, I just had to share the news with the DailyFashionista.com readers!

Neiman Marcus announces Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino as the artists featured in The Art of Fashion campaign for Spring 2012. The campaign includes 14 portraits of mother and daughter and will appear in the March edition of the newly refreshed Neiman Marcus publication, the book. Debuting nearly 20 years ago, The Art of Fashion was a revolutionary step for a retailer as the campaign was designed to feature cutting-edge fashion and provocative photography.

In keeping with that legacy, this year’s Art of Fashion was shot by photographer Mark Abrahams. The portraits artfully capture mother and daughter in a way that appeals to and connects with women of all ages. Designer merchandise featured in the campaign includes: Burberry Prorsum, Carolina Herrera, Chanel, Donna Karan NYC, Etro, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, J. Mendel, Lanvin Paris, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Tom Ford, Valentino and Vera Wang. The Art of Fashion campaign will appear in the first version of the refreshed Neiman Marcus’ the book. Building upon the book’s signature fashion and beauty features, new lifestyle-oriented editorial content will be supplemented into the oversize magazine.

“The March issue of the book not only features the celebrity power and beauty of Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino in a rich pictorial campaign, but it also debuts new editorial departments. We are delighted to share this inspired edition of ‘the book’ with our customers and look forward to bringing equally strong content in the coming editions,” said Eddie Nunns, Vice President, Neiman Marcus Brand Creative.

New departments within the book include:

Intersection – where style meets lifestyle with news on people, places, culture and cuisine
Full Disclosure– a Proustian questionnaire in which celebrated cultural icons offer a brief self-portrait in words and drawing.  March: Tim Gunn.
Two Places at Once– A side-by-side comparison of two cities Neiman Marcus calls home
Heritage– An inside look at Neiman Marcus history over time. March: Neiman Marcus in film, television and music
Essay– A think piece dedicated to the issue’s theme.  March: Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody on reinvention.
Travel– An imagery driven celebration of a stylish destination.  March: Paraty, Brazil

For anyone and everyone who refuses to let anybody tarnish their shine…this is for you!

These cheeky videos are taking over the fashionable and sometimes unfashionable Internet waves and entertaining many of us! It’s great to be able to laugh at oneself. What’s that saying — we are laughing with you, not at you!  When this new “fashionista” version surfaced, I just had to share it with the Dailyfashionista.com readers. All I’m after is a life full of laughter, as long as I’m laughing with you!

My favorite line you inquire in this video, yet again? Well it’s most definitely, “Is that Essie or OPI?!”

I think what makes the video such a humorous hit is the man above dressed as an obsessed “fashionista.”  See you at Filene’s ( I DO go there).
