The cast of the “Real Housewives of Miami” pose with Micah Jesse.

What inspires YOU? I had the opportunity the other evening to attend the Fourth Anniversary Celebration for MicahJesse.com a celebrity news website written by Micah Jesse, which was held at “The Box” in Manhattan. Driven by his admiration of everything celebrity, ‘Micah’ is so much more than just the author of his website — he IS the essence of the ever-so-popular MicahJesse.com!  Every day, legions of people world-wide check-in with Micah for the latest dish on the hottest celebrities. His celeb “BFF’s” as he lovingly refers to them — were all out in full-force to celebrate the success of his highly visited and talked about website! The Daily News just posted a fabulous mention of the event in their ‘Gate Crasher’ column.

The ultra-hip venue ‘The Box’ on Chrystie Street in Manhattan served as the perfect back-drop for this celebrity driven, fashionable and entertaining bash! As guests entered this exclusive event, VIP’s were given ultra cool PowerBalance bracelets and whisked to an upstairs floor that overlooked glittering crystal chandeliers, a gorgeous trapeze artist, and a red-carpet step & repeat where Micah himself greeted his guests! ‘The Real Housewives of Miami’ were dressed to the nines (Adriana de Moura, Alexia Echevarria, Lea Black and Marysol Patton) and just wrapped-up the taping of their reunion show for Bravo, all made certain to show their support and help Micah celebrate in high-style. No detail was left unattended to and the BCakeNY celebratory cake (so tasty) was created to resemble his website!

Also there to congratulate Micah were Kelly Bensimon & Sonja Morgan (Bravo’s “Real Housewives of NYC”), Aubrey O’ Day (Oxygen’s “All About Aubrey”), DJ Cassidy, Albie Manzo (Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey”), Orfeh (Tony-nominated Broadway actress), Eric Daman (Stylist for “Gossip Girl” and Charlotte Russe), Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck (E!’s “The Spin Crowd”), O’Neal McKnight, Donnie Klang (MTV’s “Making The Band”), and Camilla Romestrand & Eddie The Gun, and DJ Tracy Young among others.  The hottest fashionistas and PR mavens — Anne Watkins & Vanessa Curtis of LGPR, Kelly Brady of Brandsway Creative and Juliana Goldman of Berk Communications were also in attendance.

Guests were generously offered delicious specialty Hennessy Black cocktails that were custom-created and named after Micah, himself!! My favorite was the ‘CeleBFF’- of course. If this wasn’t enough — singer extraordinaire (gorgeous and soulful) Marla Joy took the stage and sang her heart out to the packed house– LIVE!  Her performance was more like a special mini-concert as she sang song after song and then broke into “Take Another Little Piece of My Heart.”  Kristen Colapinto (of Social Vixen) and I couldn’t help but groove the night away to her energized, melodic voice (see video, below).  I also have to say that Micah looked rather incredible thanks to his talented fashion stylist Leo — who dressed Micah in fierce leather pants, a crisp well-tailored button down shirt, black skinny tie and hot pink satin blazer (I need to get the details on Micah’s look, asap and share the scoop with everyone).

It was such a positive, wonderful and fabulous evening! This night was a true representation of the power of creativity, innate wit and hard work! A special thank-you to Micah Jesse for having me as his guest. Now, I’m logging back onto www.micahjesse.com because this fashionista is clearly obsessed with everything up to the minute in the celebrity world! I also enjoy Micah’s site because his coverage is written in a very upbeat, intelligent yet light way and find it as a great escape from the world’s stresses. I can’t wait to see what else is in the works for this media guru!

This stunning dress by Sentimental is $149 and is available in black, white, maroon and melon at Reve New York.

one-shoulder-dress-2.jpg

Trend-setter “Carrie Bradshaw” also favors this one shoulder style!

Hi, my lovely ladies! Let’s face the facts — when we attend an event or party we want to look gorgeous and stand-out from the crowd! In walks Meital B. head stylist of the decadent Reve New York boutique located on 22 North Dean Street in Englewood, NJ. Reve which can be conveniently found just outside Manhattan is a fashionista’s true shopping paradise that features brands such as Baccio, Mandalay, Sky and Ema Savahl, just to name a few!

When Meital isn’t busy styling famous music industry divas like Little Kim, attiring Dina Manzo & Teresa Giudice from”The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” dressing the ravishing Kelly Killoren Bensimon from “The Real Housewives of New York City,” clothing gorgeous fashionistas like Tracy DiMarco from Style Network’s “Jerseylcious”, wardrobing the most stylish high-end photo-shoots — she’s helping yours truly find that perfect dress! Meital suggested this to-die-for sexy creation by Sentimental for me and the best part is the dress was only $149! I also love the fact that I can dress this up or down to suit my different fashion needs.

Every time I walk into Meital’s hot Reve New York shop I always feel such a welcoming vibe. One would imagine that a shop filled with the latest and greatest fashionable clothing might have a elitist or cold feeling to it, but it’s just the contrary here. Meital and your fashionista always chat about life and of course, fashion. I feel as if Meital and her boutique employees are my fashion friends! Her latest pieces are among the best styles I’ve seen this season, all under one roof. Even the most discerning fashionista will find something they will adore here. There is such a varied selection whether you have a special occasion and need a stand-out dress or if you’re going out to the latest hot-spot such as RDV in NYC.

Let the world eat its heart out when they see you in these “fab” clothes! Reve New York’s new website is  www.reveboutique.com!

Hi, everyone!! Spring has finally sprung!! (well, almost) The weather in the city today was at least very sunny, bright and cheerful.

Recently, I had the opportunity courtesy of AMEX to attend the American Express Skybox at Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week. While there, Creative Director of ELLE magazine — the handsome Joe Zee spoke candidly and openly about what it takes to make it in the fashion industry. His overall advice was — hard work! I’ve always thought fondly of Joe Zee and after meeting him my admiration for him has grown even more!!

The American Express Skybox at Lincoln Center is a special experience where card-members have the unique opportunity to watch every show live from above the runway during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week . I was extremely grateful to be a part of such an amazing event. Not to miss an opportunity, the room of 40 or so guests for the Carlos Miele show were able to ask Joe Zee a few questions before the show began– so of course, I couldn’t resist. I asked Joe Zee what Spring Trends every fashionista should have in their closet and also a trend recommendation for me. I almost felt like I was in a scene from “The City” when Joe would chat with Olivia Palermo — how cool!

He complimented my leopard print chiffon dress, which I purchased at Charlotte Russe. Joe Zee also said that many a fashionista likes to wear black, but remember to enhance your look with bright pops of color even with your nailpolish. He added that ELLE magazine suggests trends, but we have the freedom to wear them our way (which I really liked).

Finally, he mentioned that the Spring Trend he universally recommends for every fashionista is a “Nude” shoe with a bare leg! I also found this trend at Charlotte Russe for a really reasonable price!! Watch the video clip below, so you too can be a part of this exciting fashion experience!

Derek “Fabulous” Warburton and Keri Hilson — all smiles!

This season for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week I was a very blessed fashionista to have the opportunity to sit at some amazing shows and attend some ultra-cool fashion enthused soirees and events! There was one event though that stood above everything else and truly touched so many people, not only in the fashion industry — but everywhere! Derek Fabulous Warburton hosted the It Gets Better Fashion Lounge at the Empire Hotel and I’m honored that I had the chance to take part in this monumental event. Talk about a “wow” factor– I was blown away as celebrity after celebrity strolled into the room!

The fashion elite, celebrities and media were invited to stop by the weeks hotspot for hope and style to celebrate the Project’s mission and help put an end to persistent bullying of LGBTQ youth. The lounge offered guests the opportunity to record their own video messages of hope to youth that it gets better and have portraits taken by celebrity photographer, Mike Ruiz. The fashion lounge and gifting suite’s proceeds will also benefit the It Gets Better Project. There are so many people in the fashion community who resonate with LGBTQ youth and support the It Gets Better Project™s mission, says Derek Warburton.

The “who’s who” of the Fashion Week crowd was certainly in attendance at the Empire Hotel in support of Derek and this special cause. Why? I think it’s because Derek himself is genuine and passionate about the charities he becomes involved with! Media from all of the top entities were there to report as fashion icons and celebrities such as Isaac Mizrahi, Kelly Cutrone, Gabrielle Union, Kat DeLuna, Eve, Amanda Hearst, Jay Alexander, Judith Light, singing sensation Miguel, Joanna Coles Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire, Lauren Ruotolo book author extraordinaire and designer Marisol DeLuna among others took part in this special occasion. In demand photographers such as Andrew Werner and media expert Chance Spiessbach were also in attendance to capture the empowering message of hope and change!

Many young people face daily tormenting and bullying, leading them to feel like they have nowhere to turn. This is especially true for LGBT kids and teens, who often hide their sexuality for fear of bullying. Without other openly gay adults and mentors in their lives, they can’t imagine what their future may hold. It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach if they can just get through their teen years.

It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone and it WILL get better. The It Gets Better Project has turned into a worldwide movement, inspiring thousands of user-created videos and over 25 million views. To date, the project has received submissions from celebrities, organizations, activists, politicians and media personalities, including President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Adam Lambert, Anne Hathaway, Colin Farrell, Matthew Morrison , Joe Jonas, Joel Madden, Ke$ha, Sarah Silverman, Tim Gunn, Ellen DeGeneres, Michael Kors, and many more.

About Derek Warburton:

As a fashion correspondent, stylist and motivational speaker, Derek Warburton lives by a philosophy to Help, Teach, Inspire, Love and Have Fun. As such, Derek has built a strong relationship with Housing Works and Bottomless Closet. In the fall of 2009, Derek started the How to be Derek Fabulous program at Bottomless Closet, in which he teaches disadvantaged women how to dress appropriately for work. His involvement with causes was recently profiled by The New York Times and Huffington Post.

Hi, fashionistas! There is something to learn every time I speak with a visionary designer, especially one such as Catherine Malandrino. This stunning fashion force, recently lent her support to Dina Manzo’sProject Ladybug” event, which was held at Neiman Marcus in Paramus, NJ. As you know, Project Ladybug is a charity that helps children stricken with illness. It was an honor to be there that day and support this caring cause. When I asked Catherine what her advice was for all of us hard-working fashionistas out there in the world — she said the key to success is to bring “something different” to the table! Listen and learn, ladies!

Hi, everyone!! This fashionista has always loved Century 21 Stores! After a trip there yesterday, I realized yet again, why it’s a true shoppers’ paradise. I decided to head in there and check out their latest designer deals. After all, there’s something exciting about scoring amazing bargains on stylish items that originally retailed for much higher prices!

I walked in and was greeted by a cheery dish of candy-canes. So, I picked one up and strolled into the store to check out “the goods.” My first stop, was over to the ear-muff selection because, honestly, it’s been brutally cold in Manhattan! A “fashionista-must” right now is a warm, comfortable and stylish pair of ear-muffs. Well, Century 21 certainly has the best selection I’ve ever seen. I found these adorable — rocker style, faux-fur earmuffs by Michael Kors for $24.99 (best part, is that they’re originally $80)! After that, I of course went over to the men’s department and picked up a rich-looking chocolate brown pair of leather gloves that are of the highest quality — for a mere $30 (originally over $100). With the party/social season amping up, no lady can be without the perfect, well-fitting cocktail dress. The dress department at Century 21 was to-die-for! I scored this sassy black cocktail dress from Walter for $50 (originally over $140)! This black cocktail dress really fit so well and has a multitude of various styling options! To top off my winter looks — I discovered a bright red jacket by Guess for a reasonably priced $90! A great way to brighten-up your winter wardrobe is with a “pop of color” from a fabulous coat, such as this one! You can’t blame a girl for having some fun while shopping, so I couldn’t resist this plush Hello Kitty robe. A special thank-you to Kristen Colapinto from Social Vixen for joining me on this lively shopping excursion and taking these terrific photos & video!

I was so happy that I not only wrapped up my holiday shopping for some family members, but found a few special designer treats for myself, as well!! Offering a savings of 40-65% off retail, Century 21 can’t be beat. See you at Century 21 Stores again soon! Happy Holidays, everyone!!

Hi, my caring readers!! During the holiday season, it’s nice to donate your time to a few good causes or two. I myself, donated my fashion styling/makeover services to the Heart and Kidney Foundations, and lent my support to Dina Manzo’s Project Ladybug. Why, do I do these things? Well for one, they make me feel good inside. Secondly, it’s these good deeds that we do that bring good karma into our lives!

I was contacted by Veronica Lee Anne, a very talented PR guru in Manhattan, who asked me to be a special host committee member for her latest charity endeavor — Music Kitchen Presents The Gift of Music: First Annual Gala Benefit. On December 21, 2010 from 6:45pm-10:30pm Music Kitchen’s First Annual Gala will be sharing the gift of music which defines their mission of hope, love and giving to New York City’s underserved communities. As the first concert comes to an end, additional guests will arrive for the second portion, set in a cocktail atmosphere where passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be flowing on both floors. Mark O’ Connor’s Hot Swing Group will headline the second performance of the evening, filling the chic cherry wood and velvet-outlined lower level club with jazz. The evening will end with some charming desserts, party music by The David Bixler Jazz Quintet, followed by the close of a silent auction, and on their way out, guests can pick up a generously filled swag bag.
