#DFStreetStyle: Winter Chic

written by Dana January 24, 2015

With the freezing temperatures hitting the NYC metropolitan area — are you finding it difficult to keep warm and yet still feel stylish?!  The summers are so easy, one can just easily slip into a dress and golden sandals and you’re all set, but in the winter months layering can be challenging!

I was recently in Hoboken, NJ and visited a shop on Washington Street called Bella Ro. The owner Vanessa always has her fashionable eye on the latest and greatest pieces you should know about. There is a win-win here, or shall I say a silver lining to this silver/grey poncho. Even though the pieces are well made, the fashions sold at Bella Ro are very affordable. It’s nice to know that when I walk in the door, I can easily peruse the racks knowing that I am getting value here.

Now to the look! I fell in-love with this grey poncho. As some of you know, grey tones are a popular neutral this season. I added a pop of color by my face with a statement necklace also from Bella Ro. This turquoise blue was the perfect touch to add a little something by my face. I paired this poncho with a fabulous skinny jean and a sexy pair of black boots.

* Style Tips for Wearing a Poncho: When wearing a poncho keep the rest of the look lean, opt for a skinny denim jean or a sleek legging. Add a little height with a heel or heeled boot to complete the look.  Add a pop of color by your face when you wear grey so you don’t look washed-out (I chose a pop of blue in my statement necklace).
