With the fall season upon us and the lazy, hazy, relaxed days of summer behind us — it’s time to polish up and sharpen your fall look. Men, I’m going to be honest with you. Grooming is really important to your over-all look and appeal. While for some of the Dailyfashionista.com readers sufficient grooming might be a given, I just want to make sure that I stress the importance of a polished appearance to all of the men out there. Trust me, ladies take notice and so do your employers!!

Some men are hesitant about visiting anything other than an old-school barber-shop. Many of the men out there think that uttering the words “hair-salon” is like eating cut-glass. With that being said, there’s a new breed of barbershop in town. One that is manly, but also has that extra something that you hard-working guys deserve.

The Hoboken Man is one such establishment that has their pulse on what’s hot and happening in men’s grooming! Think modern-day barbershop. The Hoboken Man has a modern, masculine feel with richly stained wood panel walls, chrome accents, and exposed ductwork for an industrial flair.  A set of eight flat panel high-definition televisions hang in optimal viewing areas. Their vintage Playboy collection includes the first-ever cover featuring Marilyn Monroe. Talk about atmosphere!!

The Hoboken Man provides clients a classic barbershop experience with all the services of a high-end salon. Services include: classic hot-lather straight razor shaves, precision haircuts and custom color (for those men that may want to cover those grays), spa manicures and pedicures (it’s ok – you can still be manly and get a pedicure – your girlfriend will thank you), anti-aging and deep cleansing facials, and a variety of other skin care treatments to keep your skin looking handsome! Let’s face it — American Werewolf in NYC isn’t going to score with the ladies and if your toe-nails scrape her feet in bed — well, that’s not good either!

The Hoboken Man is a full-service barbershop dedicated to serving the hair, nail and skin care needs of the urban man. For further information, please visit: http://www.thehobokenman.com/. See you around town, gentlemen!

With the July 4th holiday weekend approaching many ideas are flurrying through our minds — where to go, what to wear, where to eat and what to drink!! Well, I have the inside scoop regarding one of my favorite NEW– New Jersey Housewives. I really like the new Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Melissa Gorga. Why? Because I’ve met her in person at several events and she’s really sweet, intelligent and funny (not to mention drop-dead gorgeous).

Here’s the scoop: For all of you RHONJ admirers, Melissa Gorga will be appearing and hosting the beachside festivities at Long Branch hot-spot Avenue – LeClubNuit. On Sunday, July 3rd from 7:00pm-2:00am an exclusive Rooftop Pool Party like no-other will take place!! I can’t wait to take a much deserved break and get to see the stunning Melissa once again! What will she be wearing? Something from REVE Boutique perhaps and accessories from The Sassy Shop Girl (some of her favorite shops).  See you there, everyone!! What to drink? I’m sure the bartenders at Avenue’s Le Club will serve up something delicious like a glass of Veuve Cliquot with the generous hand they pour with!! See you there, everyone. Also, enjoy the video footage I recently took of Melissa Gorga in a Marisa Kenson dress at a recent Reve-Boutique soiree! Oooh-la-la, Owwww!!

You can hear my voice saying, “looking gorgeous” during the packed Reve Boutique, Marisa Kenson, Dina Manzo event!! This was some quick video footage I took of her sizzling Marisa Kenson dress!!

I had quite an enjoyable weekend at the beach in Spring Lake, NJ as a guest of my good friend, Juliane. We had a fab time with her friend Heather. A great girls weekend!

At night, we went to the Parker Housecool hot-spot to check out the crowd and have some fun! At the beach most people are laid back and friendly, so if you are outgoing like me, you’re bound to start chatting with someone sooner or later. One such ‘convo’ I had was with a guy that asked me if I wrote about men’s fashion on the site. He got me thinking — hey, I should write about men’s beach fashion (or lack there-of)!

With that being said, there were some fashion ‘hits’ and fashion ‘misses’ at the beach this weekend! I’m right here to sort it all out for the men and for the girlfriends who want their men to look better — I suggest you email them this (ahem)!

Dana Prigge’s Summer Style Tips for Men

1) Horizontal stripes are a no-no, because they widen you! Vertical stripes are a must, because they elongate/slim you! My friend Julie introduced me to her friend Joe this weekend. He was a definite fashion “do”! He had on a vertical striped shirt in shades of blue (very complimentary for the beach scene). The shirt was by Faconnable and he wore it with a dark wash jean & a casual shoe. By rolling the sleeves of the shirt, the look was in keeping with a laid back vibe. When I asked him about his style choice he said that “wearing a good shirt is important.” This guy had a point! Style score: Clean-cut cool.

Nordstrom is having a sale, so this Faconnable shirt is normally $125.00 on sale for $82.90!

faconnable.jpg

2) Guys, I know we are at the beach, but that is no excuse to wear a ratty t-shirt out at night! T-shirts are cool and very ‘in’ right now, but one with stains, torn and from your college days is not appropriate for a night out (especially if you want to impress the ladies!) A better choice would be this shirt by Materialust, sold at hip Scoop NYC Men. Wear this cobalt blue shirt with dark wash jeans and some sneaks for a rockin’ look that says casual clean! Style score: go from sloppy geek to laid back chic, with this ensemble!

Both the t-shirt and sneakers can be found at www.scoopnyc.com

3) I saw enough Reef flipflops to open about a truckload of alcohol! The signature of the Reef flip-flop is that they have a bottle opener built-in the bottom of the shoe! Very ingenious. Ok, I will let the men slide that wore these out at night, because we were at the beach (even though I suggest these for the daytime only). But, beyond the Reefs overload was something even more disturbing.

Men, please cut your toe-nails! No excuses, but Reef sandals with dagger-looking nails is quite unappealing! Not to mention a safety hazard! Cut those nails boys… or better yet treat yourself and that special lady in your life to a couples pedicure at a lush spa! Style score: American Werewolf in Spring Lake, isn’t a hit!

I hope you enjoyed these useful tips & Daily Fashionista will be seeing you at the beach. The ‘DF’ Beach Patrol has officially arrived!

Things that make you go ’vroooom.’

Hi, luxury car and jet enthusiasts!! I had the opportunity to attend a private event last night at an airport hangar for the unveiling of the new Bentley 2012 Continental GT hosted by Paul Miller of Bentley Parsippany & Rolls Royce and The Hip Event.  The Challenger 300 Jet in the background wasn’t too shabby either, to say the least! Guests enjoyed an entertaining evening with scrumptious passed hors d’oeuvres and tasty cocktails.  I decided to wear a ‘pop’ of color last night in hopes that it will bring the warmer weather to us, pronto!

Thank you to Maria Cucciniello of The Hip Event for throwing such a chic soiree.

Hi, bag-istas! The proper purse can make or break any outfit. I also like to incorporate more unique fashions into my own wardrobe whenever possible. Handbag designer Andrea Maiolano from Hoboken, NJ has been garnering her fair share of buzz lately – regarding her fabulous line of handbags and clutches (www.loveamarie.etsy.com).

My personal experience with Andrea began when I was out one evening and noticed a group of fashionistas all carrying these really pretty-printed handbags. One of the girls approached me and said they liked the dress I was wearing that night (this sort of exchange of conversation happens to me often). All of us began chatting and I of course asked the ladies where their colorful, pretty and wonderfully designed purses where from. That’s when this entire group of women began talking about Andrea Maiolano and her purses! You could tell that these ladies really loved what they had purchased — it was genuine. I was equally impressed with the vibrancy and quality of the fabrics used.

Recently, “thebokenonline.com” wrote a rather complimentary article about Andrea Maiolano and her line of special purses. “TIME OUT NEW YORK” just featured the Amarie collection (photos taken by Krystyna Velkova – who also models).

Amarie pocketbooks can now be purchased at various specialty boutiques such as Koru Wedding Shop in Hoboken, NJ. Daily Fashionista has a feeling that this is just the beginning for the ultra-talented Andrea Maiolano. Also, visit Amarie Handbags on Twitter by clicking here.
