The Omni Resort At Champions Gate

written by Dana January 29, 2015

The weather in the NYC Metropolitan area has been relentless. With temperatures below the freezing mark, it was the perfect time to go on a vacation. I decided upon Florida because the weather is great and the trip isn’t that far. Far enough away from the stresses of Manhattan, yet still an easy trip!

As a journalist, I often read what other people have to say. It’s interesting to learn about other people and their points of view. I was reading a hotel review online and they mentioned that a great place to stay in and around the Disney Orlando area is The Omni Resort At Champions Gate. After reading the impressive reviews and visiting their beautiful website, I knew this would be a wonderful place to stay. You know when you can just feel that something is going to be spectacular.

The resort itself is quite beautiful and is situated upon a Championship golf-course, which also makes this quite a picturesque setting. Unlike other areas of Orlando and the surrounding areas, this is a very serene environment tucked away from the amusement parks (which I truly enjoyed). The pool is gorgeous and the view alone just gets you into a zen mood. There is also the option to rent a poolside cabana and the poolside drinks at Croc’s were really delicious.

There are many restaurants also on the property. Some of my personal favorites was the breakfast buffet served daily downstairs with delicious made to order specialty omelets,  pancakes, fresh fruit and juices. There were so many tempting breakfast items to choose from, it was hard to decide! One night we also ordered room service and the food was also really tasty. All of the ingredients are very fresh here and as a vacationer that’s appreciated. Another evening we dined at Trevi’s the Italian Restaurant on the property and the service was impeccable. The food is prepared with fresh herbs grown on the property and the chicken dinner just melted into my mouth! After dinner we stopped by the lobby bar for a Mojito (my favorite cocktail) and the bartender was really friendly. It’s nice when you visit somewhere that the staff is friendly. I’m going to say right here that it was one of the best mojitos I have ever enjoyed.

Besides the pool, golf and spa — there’s another fun activity you can do during the evening at the Omni. You can make ‘smores by a huge and very pretty fire pit. They have a huge fire with chairs all around it. We went to the Broadway Deli located downstairs in the hotel and bought the ‘smores kit they sell. On a cool evening, it was really relaxing to sit by the fire and just enjoy the warmth on your face. One of the nights was cold for Florida around 58 degrees, so it was nice to be able to sit by the fire — chat with other hotel guests and make ‘smores!

I really enjoyed the stay at the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate and will definitely visit again. My overall rating for this hotel is a definite must-visit if you’re in the Orlando area. I highly recommend it. As an additional note, this hotel is pet friendly and I noticed quite a few adorable dogs that had their own floor of the hotel to stay on with their owners.

Tweet @DanaPrigge if you have any questions about my visit to Florida. I would love to hear from you! As for now, I will let my travel pictures complete the story!
