Waldorf Astoria Orlando: Disney Luxury

written by Dana January 29, 2016

Let’s just say that the New York City metropolitan area is known for our cold winters. When I think about escaping the freezing temperatures for some fun in the sun, Orlando comes to mind. Traveling to Orlando is stress-free and there are so many exciting things to do. What I also like about Florida is whether you want to visit your favorite theme parks for a thrill or lounge poolside with a cocktail in hand — it’s all there.

I recently went to the sunshine state and opted to stay at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando. This was my second time staying at a Waldorf Hotel. The trip was intended to be a mix of leisure time and trips to Walt Disney World. There is something magical about a Disney experience with a chance to be in the present moment to enjoy life and away from the busy streets of Manhattan!

The Waldorf Astoria Orlando is located within the Walt Disney World property, which makes it extremely convenient in an enclave called Bonnet Creek. Within this area are two other hotels, a Wyndham and a Hilton which is actually attached to the Waldorf. Guests of the Waldorf can enjoy both the amenities at their hotel and also the lazy river and restaurants at the Hilton. I found this appealing because you in essence get to enjoy two hotels at the same time!

When I arrived at the Waldorf, the doormen were extremely nice and helped us with our luggage. The suite we had was absolutely beautiful with a stunning view of the pool. The bathroom toiletries were of very high quality and the bath tub was perfect for a late night soak after a long day at the Walt Disney World theme parks.

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was delicious as they served made to order omelettes, crispy bacon, homemade pastries, fresh fruit and more. Then it was time for a dip in their beautiful pool. There are two pools on property which are very relaxing. You can also make a stop next door to the Hilton and enjoy their lazy river. Cocktails at the Waldorf were amazing and I even spent some zen time in a hammock.

One evening, we went to a fabulous dinner at La Luce which specializes in Italian Fine Dining. The meal was absolutely one of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had and the service was top rate. Later that evening we strolled back to the Waldorf to enjoy Disney fireworks right from our balcony (it just doesn’t get much better than that).

There are also many restaurants at the Waldorf Orlando and the poolside food is really good. I enjoyed delicious salads and other dishes there. If you’re traveling with a golf aficionado, he can play golf on their wonderful course and you can rejuvenate at the spa. I actually wound up buying some bath products at their spa and they were so nice!

If you’re looking to escape freezing temperatures for a relaxing and fun vacation, I highly recommend the Waldorf Astoria Orlando. Want to keep the conversation going?
